Cookie Policy

Short version: this website sets no cookies at all, so there is nothing for you to accept or refuse and you will not find a consent banner here. The rest of this page explains how that works and what the app stores on your phone.

01What cookies are

Cookies are small files a website stores on your device, usually to recognise you when you come back. European rules say a site needs your permission before placing any cookie that is not strictly necessary — which is why most sites greet you with a banner.

02Why this site has no banner

We measure how the site is used, because we want to know whether anyone reads it. But we do this without cookies: our analytics provider is configured to keep everything in memory for the duration of your visit and to write nothing to your device. When you close the tab, nothing of you remains on your computer.

Because nothing is stored on your device, the consent requirement does not apply, and we would rather leave you alone than show you a banner you have to click away. The trade-off is that we cannot recognise you on a later visit — every visit looks new to us. We think that is the right trade.

03What we do measure

Page views — which pages get opened, and roughly from where, derived from your IP address by our provider. We do not store your IP address ourselves.
Waitlist signups — a single event recorded when the form is submitted successfully, so we know how many people sign up. It carries no personal detail.

This runs through PostHog, on their European infrastructure. Nothing is shared with advertising networks, and there are no third-party tracking pixels on this site.

04What the app stores on your phone

The Ponder app is not a website and uses no cookies, but it does keep a few things on your device so it can work:

Your sign-in session, held in your phone's secure storage (the iOS Keychain), so you do not have to log in every time.
Your preferences, such as your chosen reminder times and whether you have already been asked about notifications.
Usage statistics, sent to PostHog as described in our Privacy Policy. Unlike on this website, these are linked to your account.

All of it disappears when you delete the app or your account.

05Staying in control

You can clear or block cookies for any site through your browser settings. Since we set none, that will not change anything here. On your phone, you can turn off notifications in your device settings and delete your account from the app's settings screen at any time.

06If this changes

Should we ever need cookies — for example if we start running advertising campaigns that require measurement — we will ask for your consent first, with refusing as the default, and update this page before doing so.
